The Newfoundland Club Inc. (NZ) was formed on 19 January 1981 and became officially recognised by The New Zealand Kennel Club (now Dogs NZ) on 21 February 1981 as a Specialist Breed Club.
Covering the North Island, the Club has 3 formally affiliated branches. These are Auckland Branch, Midlanz Branch and Wellington Branch. It is the responsibility of the Branches to observe and implement the objectives of The Newfoundland Club Inc. (NZ) within the area covered by the Branch. In doing so, the Constitution and rules of the Club are followed.
The Club holds specialty Water Trials, Carting Tests, Championship Shows, Ribbon Parades, Basic Training Days and attend Charity Fundraising Days on a regular basis. These tasks are undertaken by Branches on behalf of The Newfoundland club Inc. These events are well attended both by Newfs and owners wishing to participate purely at a social level, and by those wishing to accumulate points available from all events to compete in the Awards Systems operated by both the Club and individual Branches.
All disciplines covered by the Club operate under their own set of Regulations. These are available for downloading from the Library page.
If you have a newfie, or don't even have one yet, feel free to download our membership form and join up. This is the place where you will meet people who share the same interests - our gentle giants.

There is always help available, and if you don't have a newfie yet, come along to our events and see them in action, we are sure you will have one soon.
The Club also offers a rehouse service to Newfies that need a new home for one reason or another. Our contacts page has a list of dedicated people who give up their own time to ensure the Newfie is placed in a home forever.
